On Friday, the RAF paid a special visit to St Gerard’s school and arrived in suitable style – by helicopter! Ava in year 7, Ephraim in year 5 and Byron in year 2 knew what was going to happen at lunchtime as it was their father who was piloting the helicopter, but for the rest of the school it was a complete surprise.
The whole school came out on to the school fields to see the helicopter land on the courts and welcome the RAF and then everyone was able to meet the crew and get closer to the impressive helicopter.
In the afternoon, the RAF Pilot gave lessons on the forces involved with helicopter flight to the A level physics students and on climate and flight to the year 8 geography students.
