As part of the Remembrance Day events, St Gerard’s junior school pupils made their way down to the Bangor war memorial to pay their respects and remember those who died during the wars. The pupils laid their wreath of poppies and held a minute’s silence.

Many Bangor men died while serving in the Merchant Navy in the Second World War. The lists include many who are not named on the war memorial. Some of the Merchant Navy men died when their ship, SS Pamela, sank in the Bristol Channel with all hands lost.
