Through The Size of Wales organisation, school learners can experience a “Model United Nations Climate Change Conference” and have a chance to become Climate Champions. Two delegations from Year 12 (Hayley, Shenona and James) and year 10 (Ellie, Ffion and Morgan) represented Chile and Germany respectively at the MockCOP in Caernarfon in September. In total eighteen different nations were represented by schools across North Wales. Both teams represented their countries with consideration and enthusiasm. They asked difficult questions of other countries and entered negotiations with aplomb. Amendments to the draft resolutions were proposed as well as new resolutions being put forward by the teams. Voting on the agreed resolutions then took place. An interesting day was enjoyed by all and helped further climate change awareness in Wales.
